Roderick Eugene Daniel, age 92, of Gulfport, passed away on August 18, 2026.

He was a lifelong resident of Gulfport and retired as a Research Technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He served in the United States Navy prior to his career with the USDA. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling. His focus in life was on the well being of his family and making sure they were taken care of.

He is survived by his sons, Rick Daniel (Jodie) and Rusty Daniel; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Phelps Daniel; parents, Wallace C. “W.C.” and Ruby Trehern Daniel; and daughter, Joanie Averett.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with visitation one hour prior.

A reception will follow the ceremony at the funeral home.

He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
