Robert D. Thielker, age 67, of Mobile, Al, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Oxford, Al.
He was preceded in death by his father, David H. Thielker; his mother, Doris J. Thielker; a brother, Paul Thielker; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John C. Brooks and Gladys E. Brooks; and a sister-in-law, Cathey Brooks Cain.
Mr. Thielker is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Kim E. Thielker; his children, Matt (Erin) Thielker and Brett (Brandi) Thielker; his grandchildren, Brooksly Thielker, Addalyn Thielker, and Ireland Thielker; his siblings, Jim (Marla) Thielker and Vicki Thielker Schneider; a brother-in-law, Bo Brooks; his nephews, Charles (Deanna) Fuqua, John (Elizabeth) Fuqua, David (Lindsay) Thielker, Jason Thielker, Jack (Katelyn) Cooper, and Calvin Brooks; and other relatives and friends.
He was a native of Amarillo, TX and had been a longtime resident of Mobile, AL. Robert was a proud graduate of Ocean Springs High School, Ocean Spring MS. He went on to earn an Associate of Science in Business from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Business and Accounting from the University of Southern Mississippi. His strong educational foundation played a key role in his successful and varied career.
After graduating from college, Robert launched a small accounting business, which he successfully managed for 14 years. Alongside this, he worked 25+ years in the grocery industry, serving in various roles and leadership positions. In the later years of his professional life, Robert and his wife Kim dedicated themselves to managing senior living facilities across several states, where they found fulfillment in serving others with compassion and care.
Robert had many passions that brought him joy throughout his life. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family, especially his three beloved “Grand-Girls” — Brooksly, Addalyn, and Ireland — who were the light of his life.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Robert was a devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Braves, and Boston Celtics. His love for sports extended beyond watching — he was an avid athlete himself. Over the years, he played basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and was also an active league bowler. Whether cheering from the stands or competing on the field, Robert’s love for the game was unmistakable and infectious.
Robert was a man of deep faith who dedicated much of his life to serving his church community. Over the years, he held many roles within the church, including Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Board of Deacons and Board of Elders, Choir Member, and Praise Team member. His leadership, commitment, and heart for ministry impacted many lives, and his legacy of faith continues through those he mentored and served alongside.
Robert will be honored on Saturday, July 26th, 2025, from 5pm – 7pm at the home of Brett and Brandi Thielker. There will be a time for fellowship and food will be served.
