Robert M. Slade, affectionately known as Mike to family and friends, departed this life on May 12, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on August 29, 1950, Mike touched the lives of many throughout his journey. He was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Air Force, and he retired with honor after years of dedicated service.
Mike's professional career included a notable tenure at Triton Systems, where his skills and commitment were highly regarded. He held an associate’s degree in Drafting, which complemented his keen eye for detail and creativity in his work.
Mike was not only a diligent worker but also a man of deep faith. He was a devoted member of Orange Grove Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship. His love for the Bible was evident, as he cherished the comfort and wisdom it provided throughout his life.
In addition to his professional and spiritual pursuits, Mike had a passion for science fiction movies and enjoyed spending time immersed in the stories that sparked his imagination. He found immeasurable joy in holding his great-grandbabies, forging connections with those around him, and nurturing relationships with family and friends.
Mike is survived by his beloved daughter Angela D. Slade, and his siblings Gary Slade and Cathy King. He took great pride in his family, including his three grandchildren — Kevin Smith, Cody Smith, and Cole Smith — as well as six great-grandchildren: Adaline Smith, Oliver Smith, Maverick Smith, Layla Smith, Wrenlee Smith, and Brante Smith.
He now joins his parents, Partin and Jane Slade, his wife Pam Slade, and his brother David Slade in eternal rest.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the medical staff at Ochsner's Medical Center for the exemplary care Mike received over the last three years. Their compassion and dedication extended his time with them, which will always be cherished.
