Robert Eugene Little

Robert Eugene Little, Sr., age 98, longtime resident of Long Beach, MS went to his heavenly home November 10, 2016.
Mr. Little was preceded in death by his wife of almost 73 years, Monnie Pauline Brown Little; his parents of Columbia, MS, Minnie Bell Smith Little and Luther Lapoleon Little; two brothers; three sisters; and one grandson.
He is survived by his three children, Monnie Rose Shirley, Robert Eugene Little, Jr., and Juanita Marlene Kresse, along with their families; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Little was born in Tylertown, MS on February 4, 1918 and grew up in Columbia, MS. During WWII he served his country by repairing military ships and aircraft and getting them back into action. He ran his own meat market on the corner of Jeff Davis and Second Street in the back of Wilkerson's Grocery in Long Beach. He also worked as an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life and later for Life of Georgia. After retiring, he worked many years building beautiful furniture in a little shop behind his home on Cleveland Avenue. He also built and repaired many items for his beloved church, Long Beach First Baptist.
Mr. Little took loving care of his wife in her declining years and their love story is much admired by all who knew them.
The words: gentleman, scholar, loving husband and father, devoted Christian, good friend, and hard worker well describe this beloved man who will be missed by many, but fondly remembered by many more.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15th at Long Beach City Cemetery.
There will also be a Memorial Service held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19th at First Baptist Church of Long Beach, with visitation one hour prior.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the First Baptist Church Long Beach Debt Retirement Fund.
