Robert Earl Ivy “Poppie” departed this life peacefully on Monday, November 1, 2022, at the age of 82. Robert was born in Union, Mississippi on March 21, 1940, the son of Robert Leo Ivy and Elizabeth Ivy.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 62 years, Sheila Poe Ivy. He also leaves behind two daughters, Sindy Holder (Herb) and Michele Cotten (Jim). His love of family grew bigger as he was blessed with 4 grandchildren, Jordan Bell (Bo), Jonathan Holder (Nicole), Cameron Cotten (Sydni) and Justin Holder; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Grace, Brantley, Hudson and one precious angel coming in December, Lindsay Kate.
Robert graduated from Gulfport High School and married the “Love of his life,” Sheila. He joined the Air Force, and they were stationed in Maine for 3 years. Robert and Sheila relocated to the Gulf Coast where he spent most of his years working as a Civil Service employee and a member of the National Guard Reserve. Before retiring, Robert worked as an environmental supervisor, and he was also the owner of Gulf Coast Inspections.
Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that loved life and enjoyed making other people happy! He always wanted to get a good laugh and he always succeeded! His generous and positive nature will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends are invited to join the family for visitation and services on Thursday, November 10, 2022, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS 39531. Visitation will be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. Robert will be laid to rest at the Biloxi National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
