Robert “Bob” Charles Haltom, 82, of Diamondhead, Mississippi, passed away on September 30, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Known affectionately to friends and family as Bob or Bobby, he leaves behind a vibrant legacy of love, laughter, and a lifetime of service as an educator.
Born on April 11, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, Bob was the son of the late Lois Elizabeth (Lehman) Haltom and Floyd Bolling Haltom. He grew up in Michigan, graduating from Redford Union High School before earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Western Michigan University. Driven by a deep commitment to helping others, he went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Special Education from Madonna University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration from Eastern Michigan University.
Bob returned to his alma mater district to serve as a dedicated educator in the Redford Union School District for 35 years. A natural advocate, Bob always stood up for those who needed support and championed the causes he valued. He invested in people as though they were the only ones in the room, enriching the lives of young people both inside and outside the classroom.
On June 27, 1991, Bob married the love of his life, Cynthia Yvonne Turek. Together, they shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Bob made it a point to start every single day by telling Cynthia how much he loved her.
A true patriot and lifelong member of the NRA, Bob lived life with a rich variety of passions. He had a passion for motorcycles and embarking on cross-country road trips, as well as fishing, boating, reading, playing his guitar, feeding hummingbirds, and making up silly songs that brought light and laughter to those around him. He treasured time spent traveling to his family cottage and, above all else, adored playing with and loving his grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia; his three daughters, Melissa Haltom Edrington, Sara Rose Waldman, and Erin Victoria Corban; his 7 grandchildren; his 5 great-grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Rudy.
Bob will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His boundless passion for life, along with his unforgettable sense of humor and sharp wit, leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire and bring smiles to our hearts.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln-DeLisle Rd., Pass Christian, MS 39571, is honored to serve the Haltom family.
