Richard Brian Verret, Sr. passed away peacefully on September 23, 2026, in the arms of his loved ones.

Born in Theriot, Louisiana, in 1939, Richard was a longtime resident of Slidell, Louisiana, before making Diamondhead, Mississippi, his home for the last five years.

Richard is survived by Patricia, his beloved wife of almost 66 years; his five children, Rhonda (Darek), Richard, Jr. (Tina), Scott (Vy), Amy (David), and Stephen (Wendy); his brother, Gueydan; his aunt, Leah; his uncle, Edgar; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Richard was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant from the Louisiana Air National Guard. He also dedicated his career to federal government service.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Richard treasured time spent with his family. He loved cooking, with gumbo being his specialty, and enjoyed taking his children hunting, fishing, crabbing, crawfishing, and camping. In retirement, Richard and Pat enjoyed traveling the world together, especially visiting Germany, where they had once lived for three years.

Richard's Catholic faith was an important part of his life. He was a devout parishioner of both Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Slidell and Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian. He was especially devoted to Eucharistic Adoration at both parishes.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Davis and Mary Verret; his sisters, Betty and Pam; and his brothers, Davis, Jr. and Jimmy.

Visitation will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, beginning at 9:30 AM at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln DeLisle Road, Pass Christian, MS 39571. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM.

Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Biloxi National Cemetery with United States Air Force military honors.
