Richard Joseph ""Captain Joe"" Stodola, III age 35 and a resident of Ocean Springs, died on Monday, October 6, 2014, in Gulfport.
""Captain Joe"" was a native of Minnesota and had been a resident of the Mississippi Gulf Coast for the past 13 years. He was a 100-ton Sea Captain with Barry Graham Oil Service in Bayou La Batre, AL and also owner and operator of Captain Joe's Wine and Liquor in Long Beach. ""Captain Joe"" was a loving and caring person and was very devoted to his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Earl Cook and his paternal grandparents, Richard, Sr. and Shirley Stodola.
""Captain Joe"" is survived by his husband, Jason Syverson of Ocean Springs; his parents, Richard Joseph, Jr. and Susan Ann Cook Stodola of Long Beach; his brothers, Brandon Cook, Eric Cook, and Timothy (Katie) Stodola all of Minnesota and Steven (Christina) Schoon of Pascagoula; his maternal grandmother, Marcella Cook of Minnesota and numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and loving friends.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 10, 2014, at 6pm at Just Us Lounge, 906 Division Street in Biloxi.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi, served the family.
