Richard William Scott, age 56, peacefully entered Eternal Life on November 28, 2014 in the presence of his sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon and Helen Scott; his brother Stephen B. Scott, his sister Sally M. Scott, and his great nephew Stephen E. Scott. Richard is survived by sisters Barbara S. Lyman of Clifton Park, NY; Ellen S. Edmonds of Birmingham, AL; and Susan S. Dillard of Meridian, MS; his aunt Alice Maniotis of Bronx, NY; nephews Stephen B. Scott, Jr., and William Cary Cox III; nieces Shayne C. Newsome and Tina S. Herrod; great nephews Richard L. Scott and Weston Cox; great nieces Jessica Scott, Nannette Scott, Stephanie Scott, Brantley Newsome, Riley Newsome, Brooklyn Cox, Kinsey Cox, and Rowan Herrod; several great, great nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and special friends.
Richard was a life-long resident of Long Beach, having also lived for several years in Santa Monica, California working in the plumbing and music industries. He attended Long Beach High School and Jeff Davis Junior College where he earned two Associate Degrees. An accomplished guitarist, Richard shared his musical talents playing with professional bands, jamming with friends, and playing for family. A highlight of his musical career was his appearance in the May 2012 edition of Guitar Player Magazine, featuring Jimi Hendrix on the cover. Rock on Richard - you have your wings!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on December 13, 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach, with visitation at 9:30 a.m.
