Richard Thomas “Tommy” Edwards, age 68 of Ellenton, FL, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, in Bradenton, FL.

Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, Howard A. and Oletta Edwards; and his brother, Howard “Butch” D. Edwards.

He is survived by son, Richard Lee Thomas “Tommy Lee” Edwards; his sisters, Jeanne St. Amant and Betty (Tim) Hope; his sister-in-law, Sandra Edwards; numerous nieces and nephews and a ton of friends.

Born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi, Tommy graduated from Gulfport High School. A few years after completing his education, he relocated to Florida, where he made his home for more than 40 years. He worked as a skilled boatwright until an accident while moving a sailboat brought his career to an end.

Tommy had a deep love for the water and found great joy in boating, sailing, and fishing. He was also passionate about cooking and took pride in creating all kinds of jewelry. Above all, he cherished time spent visiting with friends and family. Known for his generous spirit, Tommy had an exceptionally giving heart and will be remembered for his kindness and warmth.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, MS. Graveside service will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Gulfport.
