Richard Dymond Sr.

Richard  Vaudry Dymond Sr., Criminal Defense Attorney, husband, father, grandfather, and friend died Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the age of 70.  He was at home surrounded by his family and friends.
Mr. Dymond was born on February 23, 1948 to the late F. Irvin and Martha Porter Dymond and was raised in New Orleans, LA.
Mr. Dymond had many interests in life. He joined the Navy during the height of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.
Mr. Dymond returned home to earn his law degree and follow in his father's footsteps. His passion for criminal defense law began at an early age. His father, F. Irvin Dymond, was listed as one of the top 100 lawyers in America. He was instrumental in grooming Richard which would lead to a successful career in criminal law which spanned over 40 years.
Richard's first true introduction into criminal law was in 1969. His father F. Irvin Dymond had Richard assist him in the acquittal of businessman, Clay Shaw, on charges he conspired to kill President John F. Kennedy. In 1978 Richard earned his law degree from The Jackson School of Law at MS College with undergraduate studies at Loyola University and Northwestern University.
After law school, Richard began his career in Gulfport where he remained until the end of his career finishing up in Long Beach. In 1989 he was admitted as an attorney and counselor of the Supreme Court. He also served as a Municipal Court Judge in Long Beach, MS.
As dedicated as Mr. Dymond was to his law practice, he lead a full life. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying for many years. He was an avid outdoors man with a fierce love of hunting and salt water fishing. He had a passion for thoroughbred horse racing which began at an early age. He looked forward to annual snow skiing trips in Colorado.
Even with his many interests and hobbies, nothing compared to his love for his family and friends. He was most happy when he shared his passions with his family, especially the children. He was a great cook and loved crawfish season, teasing everyone with his "secret recipe".
He was always positive and upbeat about life. In his final years he would say that he "had no bucket list" and would frequently repeat to friends that life was so good that "he felt he had already died and gone to heaven".
He was preceded in death by his parents, F. Irvin Dymond and
Martha Porter Dymond; a sister, Lauren Dymond and his twin
brother, James "Jim" Dymond.
He is survived by his wife of seventeen years, Kathleen Ermert Dymond; his children, Richard V. Dymond Jr., Susan Dymond Dillard (Mark), Troy M. Baudean, Jr., (Courtney), Dr. Angela Baudean-Barras, and Nicholas M Baudean; grandchildren Carlee Dymond, Richard (Trea) V. Dymond III, Gracie Dymond, Daisy Dymond, Duke Dymond, Alexa (Tornado), Jade Barras, Ava (Screech),  Reese Baudean, and Beckham (Hammerhead) Cruz Baudean;  sister, Lynn Dymond Adams (Dave); a brother, Fredrick Dymond; mother and father in law, Kathleen M. and Leon J. Poche; brother in law, Leon J. Poche (Donna); sister n laws, Annette, Amie and Jennifer Poche; and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved Jack Russell Terriers, Belvedere, Jack Jack and Jaggy Poo.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11:30 AM at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach, with a visitation for family and friends from 9:30 AM until the service.  Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
