Richard L. Dechaine, 83, formerly of Gulfport, passed away peacefully on June 1st, at home. He was born to Peter and Dema (Blumer) Dechaine in Illinois and grew up in Oklahoma. Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife of 48 years, Grace, in 2003.
Richard served honorably in the USAF during the Korean and Vietnam wars as a missile systems analyst technician. He retired at the rank of TSgt after 20 years of service, he then went on to work at SeaLand in Gulfport for many years before retiring.
Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed working outside tending to yard and gardens. He loved to tinker and repair anything with an engine.
Richard is survived by his son Richard L. Dechaine jr and wife Karen; his daughter Wanda L. Dechaine and spouse Karen. His sisters Caroline Vaughan and Virginia Day, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Florence Hodsden.
