Richard Alan Bergez, Sr., age 81, passed away on May 5, 2025, in Gulfport, Mississippi.
A dedicated and accomplished man, Richard served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Captain and Mechanical Engineer, where he was commended with the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service due to his work as a TISEO Sub System Engineer. His military service extended from January 4, 1967, to March 16, 1971.
Following his time in the military, Richard pursued a successful career, notably with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers. He was also a proud member of the Society of Mechanical Engineers and the Fisher Body Craftsman Guild. Richard graduated from Louisiana State University in 1966 and earning an MBA from Loyola University in 1976.
Richard was an avid golfer, achieving the impressive feat of three hole-in-ones. He was a classic car enthusiast, had deep love for Cruisin' the Coast, and was a devoted supporter of all LSU sports.
Richard is survived by his companion, Ms. Elaine Majure; his children, Ms. Leslie A. Bergez and Richard A. Bergez, Jr. (Mrs. Sarah M. Bergez); his brother, David J. Bergez; his grandchild, Mr. Julian R. Bergez; other relatives, Nicole and Brian Villaros; and the mother of his children, Ms. Linda A. Bergez.
He is predeceased by his parents, Gustave and Juliette Bergez. Richard Alan Bergez, Sr. will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his passion for life, and his unwavering commitment to his country.
Richard's family would like to thank the Majure family and friends that have loved and supported their family over the years. Also, a heartfelt thanks to his longtime nurse and friend, Shane Everett.
A graveside service will take place at Biloxi National Cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 2:30PM.
