Rev. John Darren Travelbee III

Rev. John Darren Travelbee, age 80 of Pass Christian, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2023.

He was a native of Columbia City, Indiana.  John received his BS in Human Relations and Religion and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Missouri Valley College.  He was ordained in Theology/Pastoral Ministry at Emory University.

John was preceded in death by his mother, Erma Travelbee; his father, John “Jack” Travelbee; his daughter, Julie Ann Travelbee; and his daughter, Heather Diane Travelbee-Nelson.

He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Carol Travelbee; his children, Debbie Dupree (Jesse) and John David Travelbee (Brenda); his grandchildren, Emily Garland (Chase), Melanie Nelson, Ethan Derouen, Haley Derouen-Robinson (Casey), Briana Levens (Michael), John A. Travelbee (Brittany), and Brittany Winterrowd (Vince); and his great grandchildren, Violet Robinson,  Braiden Winterrowd, Van Winterrowd, Brent Winterrowd, Reid Levens, Ella Kate Levens, and Abram Travelbee.

He was a Scout Executive for Boy Scouts of America, Executive for the Order of Demolay, Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church-Gulfport, MS, and Executive Director of Seashore Methodist Assembly of Biloxi, MS. John was a member of Scottish Rites, Masons, and Shriners.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 26, 2023, from 3 - 5 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.
