Rebecca B. Smith (“Becky”)

Rebecca B. Smith, lovingly known as “Becky,” passed away at her residence on January 13, 2026, after a lengthy illness. She was 82 years old.

Becky was born on March 8, 1943, in Houston, Mississippi. She was a longtime resident of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and remained deeply connected to both the Pine Belt and the Mississippi Gulf Coast throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Yesleta Boring; her beloved husband, Harvel R. Smith Sr.; and her sister, Brenda Mather.

Becky is survived by her children, Harvel R. Smith Jr. (“Bodie”) and Stacie Morgan; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Janie Green and Joan Marie Marodis, and her partner, David McDonald Jr.

Becky was the owner and operator of Becky’s Dog Grooming Services, where she proudly groomed dogs for many years, serving clients throughout Hattiesburg and the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Her dedication to animals extended beyond grooming—she was a lifelong horse lover, and enjoyed showing horses across the southern states.

An adventurous spirit, Becky loved to travel and embraced the open road, often riding her Harley alongside friends on cross-country trips. She also found great joy at home, where she was an avid gardener who loved working in her yard.

Becky will be remembered for her independence, passion for animals, adventurous heart, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives—both human and animal—that she touched over the years.
