Rebecca Jane Louks Howard, age 62 and a resident of Diamondhead, died on Friday, October 4, 2013, in Gulfport.
Jane was an accomplished teacher for many years. She loved working with children. She was devoted to her husband and two daughters Hope and Holly, whom she traveled to China to adopt. She loved all animals especially her two dogs, Mattie and Sophie. She enjoyed music very much, being part of the Sweet Adeline's Choral Group before moving to Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bennie M. Louks of Baker, LA and her father, Winfred Louks, of Searcy, AK.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband, John Smith Howard Jr.; her two beautiful daughters, Hope and Holly, her stepdaughter, Melissa Howard Folse (Stephen); her grandchildren, Dustin and Sage Folse; her sister, Debbie Mount (Claude); her brother, Larry Louks (Bobbie); aunts and uncles, and her two dogs, Sophe and Mattie. She is also survived by many loving brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 7, 2013, at 10am at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Long Beach, where friends may visit one hour prior to the service.
Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road in Gulfport, assisted the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Suicide Support Group, Memorial Hospice, 4500 13th Street, Gulfport, MS 39501.
