Mrs. Rebecca S. Devitt, age 83, of Gulfport, passed away quietly in her home on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Mrs. Devitt was born in Gulfport, Mississippi on August 23, 1942, and was a lifelong resident of Gulfport.

She was preceded in death by her father, Winfield W. Stewart; her mother, Katie Sue Duckworth; and her husband, John A. Devitt; and brother, David R. Stewart.

Survivors include a daughter, Cassandra Hathaway Cassidy and her husband, Kevin; and a grandson, Kyle Stewart Cassidy and his wife Jerelle Jesse, all of Rochester, Massachusetts.

Mrs. Devitt, in her high school years worked at Marine Life and Standard Furniture Company. Later on in life, she was employed at Gulfport Glass and O'Neal Electric. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be sadly missed. She had a wit about her, and was caring, considerate, kind, and generous. She gave much love and got much love in return.

Services for Mrs. Devitt are private. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
