Raymond C. Murphy passed away at his home in Diamondhead, Mississippi on December 14, 2012. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as the only child to Raymond C. and Marie Potter Murphy.
Ray began his adulthood in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged before attending Pennsylvania State University. While at Penn State, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and a Master of Science degree in Sanitary Engineering. As a licensed Professional Engineer, Ray's career took him to such far away places as Saudi Arabia and Nigeria. Further, he authored several scientific papers and was published on numerous subjects specific to Sanitary Engineering.
Ray was active in his local community of Diamondhead, highlighted by being a Commissioner on the Water & Sewer Board for over 13 years.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 66 years, June First Murphy; son, Gari Allan Murphy of Kissimmee, Florida; daughter, Sandra Lee Murphy of North Providence, Rhode Island; son, Eric Drew Murphy of Wayzata, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Melanie Kuhr Murphy of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Allison Marie Murphy, Andrew Maxwell Murphy, and Alexander Michael Murphy of Plano, Texas, Stephanie Lee Geib and husband Grant Caldwell of Coventry, Rhode Island, Christine Kay Ayala and husband Victor Ayala; great-grandchildren, Olivia Gladys Ayala and Sofia Delma Ayala.
The Murphy family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice Compassus for all their loving and gentle care.
