Raymond Bounds

Raymond Bounds, better known as ""Pa-pa"" to those who knew and loved him, passed away on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 in Gulfport, MS. He was 86.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Edward Bounds, Sr., and Mabel Herrin Bounds, siblings Thomas Edward Bounds, Jr. and Francis M. Bounds. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Doris Holloway Bounds, daughters, Diane Bounds and Rebecca Bounds Barrett (Russell), siblings Kenneth Bounds (Helen) and Betty Jo Dahnke, grandchildren, Randy Barrett (Rachel) and Matthew Garner, great grandchildren, Braydon and Skyler Barrett, and several nieces and nephews.
He met his sweetheart, Doris, in Mount Olive, Mississippi where they attended Mount Olive High School together. In high school he excelled in both basketball and football. After graduation, they married and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast where they were still residing.
Raymond was employed for 40 years with United Gas Company, currently Centerpoint Energy.
Throughout his life, Raymond enjoyed many outdoor activities including raising daylilies, harvesting pecans and feeding all the critters around his property, but his all-time favorite was fishing. When indoors, he could be found watching either nature documentaries or his favorite sports teams on TV, especially the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
As a man of faith, he was an active member of Fernwood Baptist Church where he found fulfillment studying God's Word with the men's Sunday School Class.
Above all, Raymond was a family man who provided a wonderful example of a loving husband, caring father, and fun loving Pa-Pa. His family was his priority and they always knew they were loved.
Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME located at 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, MS. Following the visitation there will be a 'Celebration of Life' service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made to Fernwood Baptist Church, 2307 East Pass Road, Gulfport, MS 39507.
