Ray Taylor, age 82 of Gulfport, MS passed away on September 5, 2016. He was a lifelong resident of Gulfport, a United States Naval Reserve Veteran and a 50 year Master Mason. He worked for The Daily Herald for many years and retired from Mississippi Power Company, Plant Watson. Ray was the best story teller, ever! He knew so much of the history of the Gulf Coast and enjoyed sharing his stories. Above all, he loved his family and friends and we loved him right back!
He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Betty Battles Taylor; his parents, Archibald ""Jacko"" and Grace Taylor; his siblings, J.P. Taylor, Annie Rishel, and Jimmy Taylor.
Ray is survived by his children, Richard (Becky) Taylor, Michael Taylor, Sr., and Meg (Vickie Lizana) Taylor; his six grandchildren, Brittany (Chris) Ryle, Jeremy Taylor, Michael (Tammy) Taylor, Jr., Rick (Monica) Taylor, Steven Taylor, and Sidney (Victoria) Lizana; six great-grandchildren, Lauryn (Kenneth) Atwood, Alyssa Davis, Kaia Taylor, Gracie Taylor, Hunter Lizana, Conner Favre, Parker Lizana, and Piper Foley; and two great-great grandchildren, Fenway Atwood and Cooper Atwood.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, September 9, 2016 at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
