Ramona Allen

June 26, 1928 — January 22, 2017

Ramona "Mona" Jean Harder Allen, 88, peacefully passed away with her children by her side, January 22, 2017, at her home in Biloxi. She was born June 26, 1928, in Pierpont, South Dakota.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Allen; parents, Anna and Frank Harder; brothers: Percy, Leslie, and Arvid; sisters: Edna and Violet; granddaughter, Naomi Johnson; and step-son, Chris Allen.
She is survived by her sons: Gary Johnson (Sheila) of Piedmont, SD, Kevin Johnson (Lea) of Long Beach, MS; daughters: Karla Roberts (Kevin) of Dade City, FL, Veronica Walker, and Robin Frey, both of Biloxi, MS; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her precious dog, Wendy.
She dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and would do anything she could possibly do for them.
She was also survived by her step-children: Margaret Willis (Aldin) of Tacoma, WA, Douglas Allen (Anette), Lea King (Johnny), and Cathy Muffler, all of Saucier; ten step-grandchildren; and ten step-great-grandchildren.
She was an avid reader and owned and operated Mona's Book Bag in Gulfport for 14 years. She was a proud member of the Quota Club, Red Hat Society, and was a very active member of Bethel Lutheran Church for over 45 years. She loved animals of all kinds and proudly supported the Humane Society.
A special "Thank you" to Kare-IN-Home Home Health and Hospice Services. Thank you to Tara Stambaugh, RN, for the loving care you gave and to Abbey Higgens, RN, Brittany Crocker, RN, and the KIH hospice team for helping ease our mother over to the Glory of God. Thank you to pastor Barbara (Barb) Gibson for being with Mona and family every step of the way.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate the life of Mona will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church in Biloxi. Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service, and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bethel Free Health Clinic of Biloxi, 1650 Carrol Drive, Biloxi, MS 39531. This is a free walk-in clinic that provides health care for uninsured and under insured coast residents.
