Pass Christian

Polly Funderburk Stanley, age 77, of Pass Christian, passed away on January 6, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, CMSgt (Ret) Ronald S. Stanley; father, Lee Funderburk; mother, Elizabeth Funderburk; brother, Bobby Funderburk; brother-in-law, Arthur Williams; 2 sisters-in-law, Gloria Couch and Charlotte Funderburk; and a nephew, Jimmy Funderburk.

Mrs. Stanley is survived by her children, Mark Stanley (Tammy) and Sandra Jenkins (Perry); sister, Frances Williams; brother-in-law, David Couch; sister-in-law, Jo Anne Bailey; grandchildren, Jaime Pope (John), Chad Jenkins (Rashad), Ashley Bell (Ray), Amanda Roberts (Greg), Randi Jenkins, Bret Stanley, and Boomer Stanley; great-grandchildren, Mason, Madelyn, Saylor, Elliot, and Taylor; her “inherited” sweet companion dog, “Libby”; nieces and nephews, Tammy Turner (Keith), Marty Funderburk (Penny), Michael Nettles-Williams (Zack), Chris Williams (Jill), Dwayne Couch (Janet), Darren Couch, and Cheri Taylor (Chad); and other relatives and friends.

She was a native of Muscadine, AL and was a resident of Pass Christian.   She was a 1964 graduate of Cleburne County High School and worked in Food Service Management for the US Air Force.   She had an instrumental role at Keesler Air Force Base receiving the Hennessey Award for food service excellence in the dining facilities.  She loved playing the slot machines, spending time with her family, and bragging about her grandchildren!

Polly married her high school sweetheart, Ronnie, in June 1963.  Ronnie enlisted in the U.S> Air Force in 1962 and was stationed at Kinchelor AFB in Michigan.  Polly graduated high school in 1964 and joined her husband in Michigan.   This was the first of many assignments that took them to many places over their 26 years of service.  They traveled as far as Germany (twice), but anytime Ronnie could take leave, they always traveled back home to their families in Alabama and Georgia.  Ronnie retired from the US Air Force while stationed at Keesler AFB in 1988 and they made the MS Gulf Coast their permanent home.

The family would like to thank the staff of Fresenius Dialysis Clinic for their exceptional care.  Thanks to Mo and the “village” of family and friends that always helped look out for and take care of mom and dad.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of your choice.

A gathering will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 2 - 4 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach.
