Phyllis R. Darden, 90, a resident of Long Beach since 1967, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016.
Mrs. Darden retired after 23 years as a housekeeper at Memorial Hospital, where in 1976 she was named Employee of the Year. She was a member of Long Beach Community Church. She will be remembered for her passion for her family, her church and even for a good yard-sale.
Mrs. Darden was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, 2 brothers, her 1st husband, Richard L. Darden, Sr., 2 granddaughters, Cheryl E. Darden & Michelle K. Darden, and 2 daughters-in-law, Florence Darden & Bonnie Darden.
Survivors include her 7 children, Richard L. Darden, Jr. (Rita), Michael W. Darden, Paul E. Darden (Ann), Carolyn S. Darden (Dean), Gary D. Darden, Jean D. Jenkins (Len) and Sandra L. Darden (Bobby); 16 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11am, Friday, April 8th at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. The funeral service will follow at 11am. Mrs. Darden will be laid to rest at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens in Long Beach.
