Philip Ray Hoda, Sr., 72, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 in Bay St. Louis.
Mr. Hoda was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and was of the Catholic faith, attending St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. He was the owner and operator of Philip Hoda Trucking Services for over 30 years.
In his younger years he was active in track, basketball and dancing. He was one of the fastest runners in his school years and he loved playing basketball. Later, he and his wife Lynell won many dance competitions. Mr. Hoda loved watching his grandchildren play sports, attending antique car shows and he had a large collection of M&M memorabilia.
He enjoyed talking to people, never to meet a stranger. He loved being with his family and friends and he will be sadly missed by his wife and family.
Mr. Hoda was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Louise Hoda; his daughter, Stephanie Hoda Shaw; his son, Philip ""Phil"" Hoda, Jr.; and his grandson, Tanner Ryan Hoda;
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lynell Deshcamp Hoda; son, Darren (Kim) Hoda; daughter, Stacey McCarty; three siblings, Emmi (Roger) Dubuisson, Mike (Ruby) Hoda and Gary (Marian) Hoda; 12 grandchildren, Colby Ray Shaw, Chad (Monica) Hoda, Taylor (Brooke) Hoda, Cassandra Hoda, Kaela Necaise, Megan (Chris) Reed, Tabitha (Blaine) Williams, Aaron Hoda, Brendon Hoda, Jantzen Cuevas, Tristan McCarty and Trendalyn McCarty; three great-grandchildren, Carrieann Hoda, Brodie Hoda and Braelyn Hoda, and one on the way, Baby Briella Williams; and numerous nieces, nephews and loving family members and friends.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 6:00 until 10:00 p.m. at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, with the Recitation of the Rosary at 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 27074 St. Matthew Church Road, White Cypress. Burial will follow at Alphonse Malley Cemetery on Firetower Road. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.riemannfamily.com.
