Mr. Peter Francis Murphy, Sr., age 51, resident of Long Beach, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009, in Long Beach.
Mr. Murphy was born in Annapolis, MD on May 9, 1958. He was a passionate musician and talented story-teller. His studies led him abroad, attending schools all over the world. He adored his granddaughter, Gloria Jayne.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Peter W. Hickman and Emma A. Hickman, paternal grandparents, Edward Francis Murphy and Helen Murphy.
He is survived by two children, Sarah Murphy and her husband Daniel Caridad of Pass Christian, and Peter Francis Murphy, Jr. and his wife Sanaa of Mobile, AL; mother, Gloria Hickman Murphy of Gulfport; father, Richard F. Murphy, Sr. of Tuxedo Park, NY; granddaughter, Gloria Jayne Caridad of Pass Christian; brothers, Richard F. Murphy, Jr. of Gulfport, Christopher Murphy of Madison, WI, Paul Murphy and his wife Tess of Sweden; sister, Kerry Ollman and husband, Glen of Woodstock, GA; former wife, Karen Murphy of Albany, NY; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 22, 2009, from 1-2 p.m. at the Nourishing Place, 630 Tennessee St., Gulfport, MS. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.. Burial will follow at Barney Hickman Cemetery, Happy Lake Road, Saucier.
