Perry Martin Oberg, 91, peacefully passed away in his sleep on March 19, 2023, in Long Beach, MS. Perry was born on November 26, 1931, in Hermann Missouri. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1949 and joined the United States Air Force in 1952. He later was stationed in Keesler Air Force base Biloxi, MS where he met the love of his life June Cuevas. He later started his career at Stennis Space Center, where he obtained a bachelor’s in science through the University of Alabama. He then earned his job position as a Quality and Safety Manager and retired after 42 years.
His passion was coaching baseball and he also served as baseball commissioner for several years in Long Beach, MS. He also enjoyed Facebook, Candy Crush, Tic Tacs and Coffee! He was also a big fan of the Alabama Football team. During his down time, he loved to write poems, crossword puzzles and play card games(pinochle). His greatest joy in life was his family and his friends.
Perry is proceeded in death by his parents, Ezra and Noma Oberg; his brothers James Oberg, Kenneth Oberg and Ronnie Oberg; and his son Darrin Oberg.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years June Oberg; siblings Donnie Oberg and Joyce Goehl; children Bonnie (Eugene) Necaise, Kendall Oberg; daughter-in-law Terri Oberg; grandchildren Brandi Necaise (Brian Northrop), Brandon (Brittany) Necaise, Coley (Brenda) Oberg, Samantha Oberg, Kylee (Brian) Smith, Kayden Oberg, Kara Oberg, Alyssa Northrop and Austin Northrop; great-grandchildren Hunter Ratcliff, Dylan Ratcliff, Riley Necaise, Macy Necaise, Emma Ladner, Justin Oberg, Brayden Smith, Baylor Grace; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, March 24, 2023 at Riemann Family Funeral Home, Long Beach, MS, 19130 Commission Road, from 9:30am until the funeral service at 11:30am. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery with Military Honors.
