Penny Barnes Tripp

Penny Lynn Barnes Tripp was born on December 5, 1946, in Canton, MS to the late H.D. and Virginia J. Barnes. She left the world peacefully on November 6, 2026 at the age of 79. A lifelong resident of Long Beach, Mississippi, Penny was known for her warm smile, compassionate heart, and unwavering faith. She lived a life devoted to her family, her community, and the Lord, touching the hearts of many along the way.

Penny graduated from Long Beach High School in 1965 and remained dedicated to the community she called home throughout her life. She worked alongside Dr. Don Roberts and later with the Long Beach School District, where her caring nature, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on those who knew her.

On July 28, 1984, Penny married her beloved husband, J.D. Tripp. Together, they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Penny found her greatest happiness in the time she spent with her loved ones.

Penny is survived by her loving husband, J.D. Tripp; her three children, Christy (David) Peterson, Amy Tripp, and Tim (Stacey) Tripp; and her five cherished grandchildren, Faith (Bailey) Griffin, J.T. Tripp, Guice (Rylee) Tripp, Tripp Elias, and Tucker Elias.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Boe Collins, and her parents, H.D. and Virginia Barnes.

Through life's joys and challenges, Penny remained steadfast in her faith, drawing strength and comfort from the Lord and the love of her family. She also shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Sugar, whose faithful companionship brought her much happiness and comfort.

Penny's Christian faith was an important part of her life and was reflected in the kindness and compassion she showed to others. She had a generous heart and a special way of making those around her feel welcomed, valued, and loved. Whether through a kind word, a warm smile, or a helping hand, Penny made a lasting difference in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Wall and her staff, along with the dedicated caregivers at St. Joseph Hospice, especially Kat, for the compassion, kindness, and exceptional care shown to Penny.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in her name to the following: First Methodist Church Long Beach Backpack Buddy Program, 208 Pine Street Long Beach, MS and Gulf Coast Down Syndrome Society PO Box 654 Gautier, MS 39533.

While Penny's passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her family finds peace and comfort in knowing that she is resting in the presence of her Lord and Savior and has been joyfully reunited with her beloved son, Boe, and her parents. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she so freely gave will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.

Penny's life was a blessing, her memory a treasure, and her love a gift that will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
