Obituary

Peggy Farve Casteel passed peacefully from this life, at home with her family, on August 19, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved her deeply and a legacy rooted in faith, family, and an unwavering love for the Lord.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Betty Farve; and her sister, Janell Freeman.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelly (Brian) Dix; her granddaughter, Morgan (Garrett) Watson; her grandson, Aaron (Allie) Naramore; her great-granddaughter, Layla Watson; and another great-grandchild on the way. She is also survived by her brother, Junior (Debbie) Farve; her sisters, Norma (George) Pollard and Ronna (Dwight) Savage; her brother-in-law (husband of deceased sister Janell), Dee Freeman; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Born April 5, 1950, Peggy was a woman who knew exactly what she believed, and anyone who knew her knew she was never afraid to tell you. She could be stubborn, opinionated, and wonderfully nosey, especially when it came to the people she loved. Those qualities were simply part of Peggy, and they are among the many things her family will miss most.

Above everything else, Peggy loved Jesus. Her faith was not simply something she spoke about. It was at the center of who she was. One of her greatest desires was that the people she loved would know Jesus too. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that the faith she carried throughout her life became sight when she entered her eternal home.

Peggy loved her mama and daddy dearly and carried that love with her throughout her life. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Shelly, whom she loved beyond measure. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren, Morgan and Aaron, and absolutely treasured her great-granddaughter, Layla. Her grandbabies were among the greatest joys of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to let others know just how proud she was of them.

Peggy found happiness in the simple things. She loved the color purple, birds, plants, and coffee. Before her health declined, one of her favorite places was her porch swing, where she could sit outside and watch the world go by. She treasured having coffee with her sisters and friends, sharing conversation, laughter, opinions, and, undoubtedly, keeping up with what everyone else was doing.

Those who loved Peggy will remember her strong personality, her fierce love for her family, her sense of humor, her opinions that rarely went unspoken, and the unmistakable way she made her presence known. Life was never quite boring when she was around.

Her family will miss her voice, her stubbornness, her questions, her porch-sitting, her coffee conversations, and simply knowing she was there. But more than anything, they will carry forward the faith she wanted so desperately to leave with them.

Peggy’s story does not end with her passing. For those who share the faith she held so dearly, this is only a temporary separation.

She is home.

And perhaps the greatest way to honor Peggy’s life is to remember the message she most wanted her loved ones to know:

Love Jesus. Know Him. And make sure the people you love know Him too.
