Polly was a passionate and amazing woman who lived a life of love and service. At the age of 16, she married Walter Wilson. She was a devoted and active member of Woolmarket Baptist Church in Biloxi, MS. Polly was a stay-at-home mother until her youngest child entered eighth grade. At the age of 37, while working full-time, she returned to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Several years later, while still working full-time, she returned to school and became a Registered Nurse. She retired from both Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and Gulf Oaks Hospital.
Polly and Walter served as traveling missionaries with Campers on Mission. They visited various locations and served the Lord by helping to build various facilities, including churches. Even after Walter's death, Polly continued to travel and serve others in need.
Polly was a well-known resident in the Woolmarket community. Those who knew her can think back and cherish many memories of her and her kind heart. Most can remember the times she would be driving through the community and, as she passed the home of a family member or friend, she would honk her horn for the entire width of their property. Polly was also well-known for her service to others through the use of her oven. She would often cook for large crowds at church events, and she would bake her infamous homemade cinnamon bread or banana nut bread just because she wanted to share. These items would bless the home of the recipients and fill their hearts and stomachs with Polly's love. Polly was always ready to serve others and share her love with them.
After a long and difficult battle with declining health, Polly entered her heavenly home. She leaves behind a legacy of love and service and will be dearly missed by those who love and admire her.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph Hospice and Greg Sullivan, Beth Stephens, and the other friends/employees (former and current) at A Connected Heart for the love and care given to our mother over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Woolmarket Baptist Church.
