Pauline Ford Sinopoli, 94, a long-time resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026 in Laurel, Mississippi.
Mrs. Sinopoli was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a devout Christian. She was born in Marion County, Mississippi in 1931 and became a member of Payne’s Chapel Methodist Church in 1945. She attended Hub School in Marion County and was a graduate of Columbia High School in 1949. She attended both Millsaps College and Mississippi Southern College (now the University of Southern Mississippi). She met her husband Himbert at USM and they were married in 1952.
Pauline assisted her husband in his various business ventures. She served as leasing agent and bookkeeper for their apartment complex and also performed general ledger work for his real estate business and several of his restaurants (Sinopoli’s Popps Ferry, Himbert’s Summer Place and Dairy Dandy Drive-Ins).
Pauline was an excellent seamstress for her daughters as she often handmade clothes and dance costumes for them. She also served as chair of their Girl Scout cookie drives and she would challenge her son to Chinese checkers on a regular basis. In addition to her daily Bible reading, she loved solving crossword puzzles and bird watching. Pauline was a long-time member of Mississippi City Methodist Church where she was a member of Dorcas Circle. She loved gardening and was an associate member of the Woodglen Garden Club for many years.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Himbert John Sinopoli, her birth mother, Winnie Seal Ford and her infant brother Ernest Russ Ford, Jr. in 1935; an infant son Himbert John Sinopoli, Jr., daughter Gina LaCaze nèe Sinopoli; her father and step-mother Mr. & Mrs. Ernest Russ Ford (Queenie L. Smith); son-in-law Blake Nettles, and her four siblings: sisters Ernestine (& husband Joe May), Billie Ford, Patsy (& husband Joe Wicks) and her brother Michael Russ Ford.
Mrs. Sinopoli is survived by three daughters: Charisse Buzzella of Lake City, FL; Tara Nettles of Hattiesburg, MS; Paula (John) Sinopoli-Bascom of Birmingham, AL and one son, Himbert Jayson (Michelle) Sinopoli of Madison, AL. She is also survived by four grand-daughters (Chantel Boudreaux, Amanda Kirtland, Rita Dufresne, Emily Hairston), four grandsons (Tony Buzzella, Eugene LaCaze, Himbert Jacob Sinopoli, Jayson Blake Sinopoli), eight great-granddaughters, seven great-grandsons, in-laws Gary (Terri) Sinopoli, Marian Sinopoli, Barbara Ford and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Riemann Family Funeral Home on 11280 Three-Rivers Rd, Gulfport, MS. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery on 3908 28th Avenue in Gulfport, MS.
