Mrs. Paula Marie Keegan Rishel passed away on July 23, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport. She passed quietly in the company of her husband, Glenn Franklin Rishel, Jr.
Daughter of Eula and Paul Keegan, both deceased, Paula was born in Orange, Texas on July 5, 1949. A longtime resident of Gulfport and Long Beach, MS, she and Glenn were married in Houston, TX on January 26, 1972. Paula is survived by her husband; daughter, Meghan Rishel Harris; son, Justin Glenn Rishel; sister, Beverly Keegan Hicks; sister, Donna Keegan Leblanc; grandson, Jack Franklin Harris; and one grandchild expected in September.
Paula was filled with the spirit of service and humility as she willingly shared her time, joy, and home. As a volunteer, she made multiple trips to help the needy in South America and gave the last several years of her healthy life in service to the Pink Heart Funds in Long Beach. In 2012, she was awarded Volunteer of the Year by the Pink Heart Funds.
Brimming with gusto for life, Paula had a passion for gardening and painting. Her watercolor greeting cards adorn the homes of her friends and family and her flowers and plants surround her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to Pink Heart Funds of Long Beach, MS or St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach.
Friends are invited to a visitation with the family from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Saturday July 27, 2013 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Long Beach. Immediately following the visitation at 10:00 am in the church sanctuary a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted. After mass, a graveside service will be conducted at Long Beach City Cemetery.
