Pattye Sue Walley Warren

Pattye Sue Walley Warren, 85, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, in Gulfport, Mississippi, with her loving husband by her side.

Born on April 22, 1940, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Pattye was the cherished daughter of Andrew and Elizabeth Walley. She carried throughout her life a quiet grace and joyful spirit that touched all who knew her. To her eight grandchildren, who were the light of her life, she was simply “Mimi.”

Pattye’s Mississippi roots run deep. Raised in the Hattiesburg area, she was shaped by parents who instilled in her a strong faith, a tireless work ethic, and a commitment to treating others with dignity and respect. From her father, she inherited a practical strength and a gift for “taking care of business.” From her mother, she developed a love of cooking, sewing, and caring for others.

During her years at Petal High School, Pattye distinguished herself in both spirit and achievement. She was a cheerleader and a member of the Beta Club—where the motto “Let Us Lead by Serving Others” guided her—and was honored by her peers as Football Queen and Miss Petal High School.

She graduated with honors from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1962 with a degree in Home Economics Education. While there, she was an active member of Alpha Sigma Alpha and formed lifelong friendships. In 1960, a college roommate introduced her to the love of her life, Gerald Martin Warren.

Pattye and Gerald were married on December 17, 1961, in Petal, Mississippi, beginning a marriage defined by devotion, partnership, and enduring love. Following their marriage, they moved to Florida for several years, where both taught high school. They later moved to Oxford, Mississippi, where Gerald pursued his law degree, before settling on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, where they built their life together.

Pattye began her career in education, teaching Home Economics. Her natural gift for instruction and care made her both a respected teacher and a positive influence in the lives of her students before she devoted herself fully to raising her family. She later served as the office manager of her husband’s law practice.

Together, they built a home centered on faith, family, and a deep commitment to one another that never wavered.

Pattye poured her heart into raising her three children: Gerald Martin “Marty” Warren Jr. (Anne) of Gulfport; Leigh Ellen Warren Hughes (Tom) of Denver; and David Patrick Warren (Cara) of Dallas.

Faith was the cornerstone of her life. A lifelong Methodist, she was a devoted member of Trinity Methodist Church in Gulfport, where she sang in the choir for many years.

Her leadership and service were evident throughout the community. She served as President of the Gulfport Junior Auxiliary, President of the Trinity United Methodist Women, and President of the Bayou View Garden Club. She also participated in the courts of the Revelers and Cavaliers Carnival Associations. In every role, she led with warmth, humility, and quiet strength.

Her joy deepened as her family grew to include eight beloved grandchildren: Meredith, Jay, and Christopher (Marty’s); Liam, Aidan, and Florence (Leigh’s); and Jack and Will (David’s). Each held a special place in her heart.

Known for her welcoming spirit and genuine kindness, Pattye lived by a simple philosophy: “You can never have enough smiles.” She believed in showing love generously, living with moderation, and holding firmly to honesty and integrity.

She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—working in her yard on sunny days, reading on rainy afternoons, and cheering on Ole Miss football with her family. An accomplished seamstress and cook, she also enjoyed writing poetry for those she loved. Her adventurous spirit carried her from the ski slopes of Colorado to the historic streets of Rome.

Pattye is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Gerald Martin Warren; her three children and their spouses; her eight grandchildren; her brothers, Bob and Terry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Elizabeth Walley; her sister, Carolyn; and her brother-in-law, Glen Curtiss Warren.

Pattye Sue Walley Warren lived a life marked by faith, love, and quiet grace. Her legacy endures in the family she cherished and in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered until reunited again.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Diane and Freida, as well as the staff at Singing River Hospital Gulfport.

A celebration of her life will be held at Trinity Methodist Church on Friday, April 3rd. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am, and the service will begin at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.
