Pat Hinton Stewart (Mrs. A.T. Stewart Jr.) passed away on April 18, 2021.

She was born June 13, 1932 in Booneville, MS to Carroll and Matti (Peeler) Hinton. She lived most of her life in Jackson, MS before moving to Gulfport, MS in 1975. She attended Jackson public schools, graduating from Jackson Central High School in 1950. She was a third-generation graduate of Mississippi State College for Women and received a BS degree in 1954 with a major in Microbiology. While at MSCW she was in four honor fraternities: Mortar Board, Beta Beta Beta. Alpha Epsilon Delta, & Gamma Sigma Epsilon. Mrs. Stewart received her medical technology training at Charity Hospital of New Orleans, LA and became a certified medical technologist by American society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). She received a MS degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1971 and received certification in medical microbiology by American Association of Microbiology (AAM).
While working in the Research Laboratory at the Jackson VA Medical Center, she published seven medical research papers in prominent medical journals. Mrs. Stewart was the supervisor of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the VA Medical Center, Biloxi, MS when she retired with 30 years of service in the Veterans Administration.
She had her name listed in Who's Who of American Women and Who's Who in the South and the Southwest. She was member of the Natchez Trace Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution (DAR). She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in both Jackson and Gulfport, MS and served as a deaconess in Gulfport, MS.
After retirement Mrs. Stewart became involved in genealogical research. She complied and published her work on four families (Stewart, Nelson, Hinton, and Walton) including related families to each.

She was active in the Handsboro Garden Club holding various offices. She was twice elected president of the Stewart Family Reunion, held annually at Palmer Creek Campgrounds.

Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. M.C. Hinton, her husband, Alvah T. Stewart, and her granddaughter in-law, Jennifer Bourland. She is survived by three children, Jeff Stewart (Kay), Joy Martin (Michael), and Darlene Stewart; four grandchildren, Richard Bourland, Brooke McNell (Frank), Jeffrey Stewart, Emily Lowe (Jimmy); six great-grandchildren, West, Emoree, Travis, Ella, Sophia, Dawson.

The family would like to thank The Blake at Biloxi Senior Living Center for the happy days she spent with them. The professional care, kindness, and genuine affection given to their residents is simply amazing. We would also like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful care as well. Patricia died peacefully, with her family at her side. We take comfort in knowing that she is with Jesus, and once again with her beloved husband and best friend, Al.

A visitation will be on Thursday, April 29, 2021, from 11:30 am - 12:30 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 12:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Coalville Cemetery.
