Poplarville

Patricia M. Cobb, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on April 4, 2025, in Poplarville, Mississippi, surrounded by the love of her family.

She was born on December 15, 1942, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to George and Anne-Lee Wallis Sr. As the eldest daughter in a large family of twelve, Patricia learned early on the values of love, responsibility, and resilience. She attended Dukate Elementary and D'Iberville School, where she began to cultivate her passions, including a lifelong love for beauty and the joys of community.

In 1960, Patricia married the love of her life, Frank M. Cobb Sr. Together, they navigated the challenges and triumphs of raising three children—Frank Jr., David, and Starlene—establishing a loving home in Biloxi, in 1982 they relocated to Iberia, Louisiana. They enjoyed their years together there before returning to Biloxi. In 2024 Patricia moved in with her daughter Starlene and son-in-law Nelson in Poplarville, where she cherished the final months surrounded by their love.

As a career woman, Patricia thrived in the beauty industry, serving as the manager of Newberry Beauty Salon in the 1970s and later owning two beauty salons. Her warm spirit and nurturing nature made her a beacon of joy in her profession, as she connected with many people from all walks of life. An enthusiastic participant in her community, she was proud to be an active member of both St. Michaels and Lady of Fatima Catholic Churches and the Biloxi French Club. In 1970 Patricia was the Queen of Mississippi Fireman Women's Auxiliary. She found joy in activities as diverse as bowling, sewing, baking—especially her daughter's wedding cake—and the thrill of fishing and camping with her family. Her vibrant personality made her a social butterfly, and her love for life radiated from her kind, compassionate heart, cherished deeply by those who knew her.

Patricia's devotion to her family was unparalleled. She took pride in being a loving mother and grandmother to her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Burkett, Damien Cobb, Emily Reed, and McKenna Cobb; her great-grandchildren, Leyton and Logan Burkett, were the light of her life, further expanding her legacy of love. She also leaves behind an extensive family that includes her brothers, Kenneth, George Jr., Robert, Ricky, and Troy Wallis, as well as her sisters, Georgia, Linda, Charlotte, Sharon, Donna, and Robin. With thirty immediate nieces and nephews, and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins, Patricia’s family tree flourished, reflective of the love she cultivated throughout her life.

Patricia embraced every challenge in life with strength and grace, enduring moments that would have overwhelmed many. Those who had the privilege of knowing her were frequently treated to her favorite joys—a good hamburger and a white Russian to sip, complemented by her infectious laughter that could brighten the cloudiest of days.

Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the incredible caregivers, Christy Sweet and Cydney Barrett, who lovingly tended to Patricia in her last months, ensuring her time was filled with comfort and warmth. Special thanks are also given to St. Joseph's Hospice, particularly nurse Brittany, whose compassionate care made a profound difference in her final days.

Patricia’s legacy will forever resonate in the hearts she touched and in the memories shared with cherished friends and family. Her spirit of love, community, and kinship will guide those she leaves behind as they continue to celebrate a life well-lived. She will be profoundly missed but will always remain alive in the heart of her beloved family.

Visitation will be 10:00 am - 11:00 am, Friday, April 11, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Chruch, 2090 Pass Road, Biloxi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Floral Hills Cemetery.
