Mr. Oyd Wendall Davis died in his son's home on September 22, 2015, in Maryville, Tennessee at the age of 77. Bonnie Jean Gregory Davis died at the University of Tennessee Medical Center on October 8, 2015.
They are survived by their sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Carolyn Davis of Dacula, Georgia; Keith and Anne Davis of Long Beach, Mississippi; and Mark and Rachel Davis of Maryville, Tennessee; grandchildren: Melissa D. Stein of Newcastle, Oklahoma; Megan D. Boyett of Jackson, Mississippi; Jeremy T. Davis of Harlem, Georgia; Lindsay T. Davis of Jackson, Mississippi; Natalie D. Melin of Duluth, Georgia: Jacob O. Davis of Maryville, Tennessee; Jordan H. Davis of Maryville, Tennessee; 4 great-grandchildren.
Oyd is survived his sister-in-law Ellie Davis of Waveland, Mississippi. He is preceded in death by his parents Talmage and Avada Davis of Ellisville, Mississippi; his brother Sidney M. Davis.
Bonnie is survived by her sisters Shelbie Smith Pickering Craft of Ellisvile, Mississippi; Virginia Smith Myers James of Gulfport, Mississippi; her brother James R. Smith of Bellevue, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her parents Virgil Gregory of New Orleans, Louisiana and Willie Mae Robinson Gregory Smith of Ellisville, Mississippi.
Oyd was born on April 6, 1938, in Seminary, Mississippi, to Talmage and Avada Davis. Oyd graduated from the University of Southern in 1963 with a degree in accounting. Bonnie was born on March 22, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Virgil and Willie Mae Gregory. Oyd and Bonnie married on October 15, 1959. After completing Oyd's United States Air Force enlistment, they moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. After working in sales and accounting for several different companies, Oyd opened his practice as a public accountant in Long Beach, Mississippi. Bonnie worked as a legal secretary until going to work for Oyd. Together they served to make Long Beach a better place.
Oyd was secretary of Southern Star Lodge #500 Free and Accepted Masons, and Past Master of the lodge. Together they served as Worthy Patron and Worthy Matron of Long Beach Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
A visitation is scheduled from 4 pm to 6 pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME in Long Beach, Mississippi on Sunday, November 8, 2015. The funeral is scheduled for 10 am on November 9, 2015 at the same location. Reverend Rod Rishel will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate the lives of Oyd and Bonnie. Interment will follow in Gulf Pines Cemetery in Long Beach.
