Orbie Martin “Mark” Patton, III went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 21, 2022.
He was born to Orbie Martin Patton, Jr. and Shirley Scarbrough Patton on February 6, 1959, in Gulfport, MS. Mark attended Gulfport schools, graduating from Gulfport East High School. He then attended Perkinston Jr. College. Mark was a diligent worker at every job and project that he undertook. He worked for a number of years as a mechanic. He worked with his brother-in-law hanging and finishing sheetrock in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. The two of them also purchased and remodeled many houses over the years. Mark worked in the paving industry for over twenty-five years, working for many years with Warren Paving and retiring from that company in 2021 as a supervisor.
Mark was multi-talented, enjoying many sports, including baseball and golf as a young person. His favorite pastime was drag racing. He loved working on his race cars and then competing with his many friends at the dragstrip. Mark always had a project to work on, but no matter how busy he was, there was always time for his faithful and much-loved companion Bentz. But his greatest love was his family. They were always first in his life.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Orbie Martin Patton, Jr. and his brother-in-law, Mike Dodson.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Joyce Patton; his mother, Shirley S. Patton; his stepson, Zane M. Snelgrove; his grandchildren, Zackari M. Snelgrove, Vanessa “Zay” Snelgrove, and Zeke M. Snelgrove; his great grandchildren, Zailyn Snelgrove, Zyla Snelgrove and Zander Snelgrove; his sisters, Lisa Dodson and Julie Patton; his nieces, Samantha Kelley and Lindsay Farmer; his nephew, Zachary Dodson; and great nieces and great nephews.
