Ophelia Davidson Curry, age 95, a native of Frisco City, Alabama and a resident of Woolmarket, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in Biloxi, MS.
Mrs. Curry was preceded in death by her husband Henry Lewis Curry; her parents Carl Reed Davidson and Rebecca Little Davidson; her brothers Joshua Davidson and Carl Davidson; her sisters Mazie Lee Davidson Grimes and Cora Davidson Suthoff; and a daughter Betty Jean Curry Worrell.
She is survived by her daughter Joyce Curry Hicks of Woolmarket; her sister Dealie Vestie McLeod; her grandchildren Lewis McKenzie ""Mickey"" (Kelli) Hicks, Cheryl Worrell (Bobby) Latil, Michael (Lisa) Worrell, and Steven Worrell; her great grandchildren Laurie Latil and Julie Latil Pilla; and her great-great grandchild Jocelyn Pilla.
Mrs. Curry was a high school graduate who was a self taught, continual leaner. She owned and operated Fashion Cleaners in downtown Gulfport, was a seamstress, and an award winning cake baker known for her coconut cakes. She was known as Miss Sunflower in the WalMart Garden Department, was a nurse's assistant at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and a private sitter. Anything she thought worthy of doing, she would set out to do it and it was done.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking, church, sewing, visiting and seeing to other's needs, developing young people, and the love of her friends and family and anyone she met.
Mrs. Curry was a member of Coalville United Methodist Church, Woolmarket, Eastern Star, Women's Society of Christian Service and participated in various Methodist church activities.
Thank you to all that allowed themselves to be touched by her love. Thank you to all that cared and cared for her. She will remain a living spirit to those she touched.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Coalville United Methodist Church, Woolmarket at 2:30 p.m. with visitation from 1:30 PM until the service.
