Opal Heflin Welch, age 92, of Gulfport, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 31, 2012, in Gulfport.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by her husband, Ray L. Welch, a daughter, Gail Welch Dickens, her parents and several siblings.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Welch VanCourt, Donald Ray Welch, a son-in-law, Elmer C. Dickens, all of Gulfport, a brother, William Edsel Heflin, of Jackson, MS, 6 grandchildren, Lisa VanCourt, Matt Dickens, Marc Dickens, Brandy Welch Mills, Donnie Welch, and Holly Dickens Ford, and 3 great-grandchildren, Austin, Gracie, and Olivia.
Mrs. Welch was a member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church for 40 years where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Joy and Inspirations groups. She enjoyed working in her yard, word puzzles, watching basketball and hockey, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 from 5 - 7 pm at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Rd., Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 1 pm Thursday at Grace Memorial Baptist Church where friends may visit from 12 - 1 pm.
Interment will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
