MSgt Oliver Miles “Mike” Parker, USAF, Ret, age 90 of McHenry, passed away on July 22, 2025.
He was preceded in death by his father, Miles Samuel Parker; his mother, Exie Pitts Parker; a brother, Samuel Lawrence Parker; and an infant sister, Mary Vernie Parker.
Survivors include his loving wife, Sterling Louise Parker; his children, Oliver Miles “Lil Mike” Thomas, Jr (Julie Shallert Thomas) Sue Ellen Carlson (Bill), Ann Taylor, Lisa Barras, Timothy Thomas, Sharon Stuckey (Scott), and Michelle Parker Dedeaux (Eric); his siblings, James Earl “Jim” Parker, Cecil Alton Parker, Gloria Von Axelson, Vonnie Merle Brown, Doris Rogers, and Mona White; his grandchildren, Danielle Mohler, Heather Flint, Brandon Thomas, Lacey Camden, Dylan Thomas, Michael Thomas, Devin Thomas, John Dragoo, Jr, Blake Dragoo, Sara Dragoo, Gina Sniff, Ron Sniff, Miles Barras, Brianna Barras, Rande Barras )Myles Sumerlin), Ann Rene Lamey, Josh Lamey, Rueben Taylor, Danielle Taylor, Cory Dedeaux (Shelby), Connor Dedeaux, and Erica Dedeaux; 21 great-grandchildren; former son-in-law, Randy Barras; and other relatives and friends. He held a deep and lasting bond with the Eley family, whom he loved as his own and considered part of his extended family.
Mr. Parker was a native of Harold, FL and has been a longtime resident of McHenry. He proudly served in the United States Air Force, with duty stations in Hawaii, Germany, Greece, and San Antonio, before retiring at Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. After retirement from the Air Force, he had a distinguished career as a food inspector with Civil Service. He met the love of his life at a grocery store while stationed in San Antonio, Texas. They married just months later and shared 62 beautiful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
He loved cooking, hunting, fishing, planting his garden, going to the casinos and eating, having fun with his family, and watching football on Sunday’s.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 11 am - 1 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport. The funeral service will be at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Biloxi National Cemetery.
