Norman William Stank

Norman Stank was born on November 15, 1941, in Los Angeles, CA and later moved to Lake Wales, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Margaret Stank and older brother, Joseph Stank.

He graduated from Lake Wales High School. He then served in the Air Force for 4 years, stationed at Keesler Air Force Base and worked in the dental clinic. After his military service he earned an associates degree at MS Gulf Coast Junior College.

Norman married the love of his life, Mary Anne Walker, on March 26, 1966, and enjoyed 59 years together. Together they had two children, Brian (Hattiesburg, MS) and Beverly Mann (Joshua Mann, Madison, MS) and two grandchildren, Catie and Jonathan Mann. Other relatives include cousins Carol Grimes and Tom and Sue Thornburg (Florida) along with their children; nieces Angela, Cathy, Christy, (Texas) and their families. Brother in law Jerald Everett (Clinton, MS) and his children Sonya and Preston and their children.

Norman retired as a technician with AT&T after 23 years, followed by several years servicing telephone systems with DuPont in Delisle, MS. Before retiring he worked several more years as a technician for Security Zone. Norman had been a deacon at First Baptist, Gulfport and later at First Baptist, Long Beach where he was an active member. During those years he made countless lifetime friends.

He was a man of many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, water skiing, playing church league basketball and softball, was a member of numerous bowling leagues, and golf leagues. He also enjoyed painting and building model aircrafts. One of his favorite things to do in recent years was to make peanut brittle to share with friends. He also enjoyed going to Southern Miss football games and Shuckers games with his son, Brian and watching the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Golf was by far his favorite sport to play and watch. Winning a lottery ticket to attend the Masters practice rounds numerous times was a highlight of his life. Along with several opportunities to attend PGA events, he was privileged to drive the cart for players in one of them. He only played golf on days that end in y.

Norman also enjoyed traveling and took many trips around the country with his wife and dear friends visiting most of the states and national parks.

Norman’s life changed forever when he moved to Florida and the family that took care of him and his brother took him to church and he learned about Jesus for the first time. His deep faith in the Lord never wavered and he led his family throughout his life with love, compassion, generosity, humbleness, and sacrifice. He lived his life in a way that would reflect his faith and was secure in his belief that he would be united with the Lord. His family rejoices in knowing that he is in heaven with Jesus and many dear friends that have gone before him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Norman’s name to First Baptist Church, Long Beach, MS, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, The Baptist Children's Village, and Wounded Warrior Project.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11,2025, from 6 until 8 PM at Riemann Family Funeral Home Long Beach. The Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 12:30 PM, at First Baptist Church of Long Beach, with Dr. Larue Stephens officiating. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
