Norma Collier Stiglet

October 17, 1933 — October 15, 2013

Mrs. Norma Collier Stiglet, 79, of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Memorial Hospital of Gulfport. Mrs. Stiglet was born October 17, 1933 in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, daughter of the late John A. Collier and Vivian Taconi Collier. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold John Stiglet, Sr., to whom she was married for 35 years. She and her husband lived in Bay St. Louis for their entire life and had 6 children. In addition to raising 6 children, she worked at Peoples Federal Savings and Loan as a branch manager. Following Harold's death to cancer in 1990, Mrs. Stiglet assumed her duties as county coroner and remained in that position for 21 years. As coroner, she was constantly on call and available in times of emergency. She worked side by side with local law enforcement and emergency responders and served tirelessly during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
After retiring from public office, Mrs. Stiglet began working part time at the office of Diamondhead Urgent Care. She loved cutting up with the office staff and often said that this job kept her going.
Mrs. Stiglet never stopped working and while she loved her jobs, what she really loved and lived for were the people she met through her jobs.
In addition to her work, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her 6 children: Charlotte Stiglet Chapman (Russell Chapman), Charlene Stiglet Black, Cindy Faye Stiglet, Harold John Stiglet, Jr., John Alexander Stiglet (Tina Stiglet), and Connie Stiglet Hair (Jeff Hair); her 6 grandchildren: Shawn Rene Krankey (Marvin Krankey, Jr.), Casey Michael Favre, Jennifer Caroline Chapman, Jonathan Alexander Stiglet (Kayla Stiglet), John Nicholas Chapman, and Harold John Stiglet, III; her niece Mrs. Elaine Giveans (David Giveans) and her nephew, Mr. John Edward Necaise (Shirley Necaise).
She will be missed each day by not only her family and former colleagues, but by her community. She was truly a very special lady and one of a kind.
The family will gather to receive friends at Our Lady of the Gulf at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 17, 2013. A service will begin at 2:00PM, following by a procession to take place at Gardens of Memory.
In lieu of flowers, contributions should be made to CASA of Hancock County (P.O. Box 4112, Bay St. Louis, MS 39251) in memory of Norma Stiglet.
Arrangements by RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 9113 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian and tributes may be offered at www.riemannfamily.com.
