Norma Faye Gibson Bennett
July 5, 1949 – October 11, 2026
Norma Faye Gibson Bennett, 77, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2026, surrounded by her children.
Norma was born on July 5, 1949. She grew up in Virginia and Tennessee before moving to Mississippi after she married. She devoted many years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother.
Later in life, Norma remarried and moved to Alaska, where she began a career as a real estate agent—a job she truly loved. After retiring, she and her husband returned to Mississippi.
Although Mississippi became her home, Norma never lost her love for Virginia and Tennessee. She treasured traveling back to visit her family whenever she could. Those trips brought her great joy, and she always wished she could be there more often, even when her health made traveling difficult.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband, Albert “Bruce” Bennett; her mother and stepfather, Connie and John Akers; her father and stepmother, Marvin and Helen Gibson; her brother, Ronald Akers; and her step-sister Janice Litz.
She is survived by her children, Kimberly Younger (Brian) and Carlos “Robert” Meador III (Dina); her grandchildren, Robert Meador IV (Erica), Heather Bond (Dylan), Haley Karnes (Colton), Jacob Fairley, Peyton Younger (Samantha), Atley Younger, and Bailey Anderson (Clay); and her great-grandchildren, Carson and Caroline Karnes, Scottie Bond, and Madison Anderson.
Norma is also survived by her sisters, Donna Hyatt, Virginia Gardner (Mike), and Peggy Trivette; her brothers, John Akers, Woodrow Akers (Linda), and Tony Gibson; her step-sister Mary Cody; as well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Norma’s greatest legacy is the family she loved. Her life took her from Virginia and Tennessee to Mississippi and Alaska and back again, but the people she loved were always at the center of her heart. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. Riemann Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the Bennett family. Please sign the online guestbook and share memories at www.riemannfamily.com
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Summerfield Senior Living in Gulfport for the love and care they gave Norma, and to VitalCaring Hospice for the compassion and support they provided during her final days.
