Norma June Randolph Bass, age 85, passed away on April 24, 2016 at her home in Gulfport. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Phillip Joseph ""JP"" Bass; and parents, William Audley Randolph and Mollie Theresa Craig Randolph.
Her survivors include her son Phillip M. ""Mike"" Bass of Gulfport; daughter, Karen Bass Resh and her husband Neil of Gulfport; grandchildren, Michael Bass of Diamondhead, Christopher Bass of Long Beach, Mollie Resh of Gulfport, Phillip Resh of Gulfport, Edward Resh of Gulfport; brothers, Thomas E. ""Tommy"" Randolph and his wife Caroline of Gulfport, William James ""Bill"" Randolph; sister in law, Stephanie Bass; and her aunt, Virginia Kennedy of Van Alstyne, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma worked in administration in the Mayor's Office at Gulfport City Hall for 25 years. She was a college graduate of MGCCC at the Perkinston Campus. She was a member Joppa Shrine Ladies Auxiliary, The Elks Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of many Mardi Gras associations along the coast where she enjoyed riding in the parades. Norma and her husband were avid travelers and enjoyed traveling the United States and abroad over the years. She also loved the holidays and had a huge collection of Hallmark Christmas ornaments. Her hobbies included working in her yard, reading and collecting books, shopping and volunteering for numerous organizations and her beloved church, St. Peter's.
Norma never met a stranger, was very kind and loving to everyone she met, and went above and beyond for anyone in need. She loved all animals. She had a very outgoing personality and was a selfless wife, mother, and grandmother. The family gives a very special thanks to the compassionate doctors, Dr. Olivia Hightower M.D., Dr. Bryan Leatherman E.N.T., Dr. Shah M.D., Dr. Boyd Benefield M.D., all the Medical Oncology staff and the CHF Clinic at Gulfport Memorial Hospital for all of the caring love and support given to Norma and her family. In lieu of flowers the family asked that donation be made to the Harrison County Humane Society of South Mississippi or St. Peters Episcopal Church in Gulfport. The family feels at peace that Norma is now reunited with her beloved husband and love of her life.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Peter's By-The-Sea Episcopal Church, 1901 15th St., Gulfport, MS at 11 am. The family will be receiving friends from 10 am until service times at the church chapel. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Evergreen Cemetery. RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, is serving the family.
