Nita Rae Osbon Bates, age 83, of Gulfport, passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2016.
Mrs. Bates was born in Delhi, LA to Webb and Ethel Minter. She was a resident of the Coast since 1963 and worked in the mortgage banking industry for 49 years. Mrs. Bates was a longtime member of Bayou View Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Raymond Osbon, Shirley Christman, and Geraldine Bertrand.
She is survived by her children, Sandra Lollis of Gulfport, John Bates, Jr. (Linda) of Long Beach, and Ronnie Bates (Fay) of Birmingham; her grandchildren, Forrest Bates (Tracy) of Knoxville, TN, Scott Balyeat (Barbara) of Long Beach, Steve Balyeat (Tonya) of Long Beach, Kim Smith (Bill) of Battle Creek, MI, John Miller (Wendy) of Gulfport, Courtney Peeler (Brock) of Saucier, Beverly Britt (Erik) of Atlanta, GA, Betsy Phillips (Andy) of Atlanta, GA; 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; and an extended family.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 5-7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Floral Memorial Gardens.
