Obituary

Nicki Lynn Franklin, a resident of Nugent, Mississippi, passed away on July 15, 2026, at the age of 67. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi, on December 19, 1958, Nicki lived a life filled with a love for family, nature, animals, and the community she cherished.

Nicki earned her Master's Degree in Elementary Education from William Carey College and dedicated herself to learning and education. She was an avid supporter of local sports teams, especially the New Orleans Saints, the New Orleans Pelicans, and Mississippi College Athletics.

Growing up, Nicki enjoyed spending time camping and fishing along the Jourdan River at Rotten Bayou. Some of her fondest memories were floating among the lily pads and fishing for shellcracker, and bluegill at Mildred's Lake in Rotten Bayou. Her love of the outdoors remained with her throughout her life.

Nicki was preceded in death by her father, W. E. Franklin, Sr.; her brother-in-law, Joseph McKay, Sr.; her sister-in-law, Mary Franklin; and her grandniece, Fallon Star Spiers-McKay.

She is survived by her mother and constant companion, Sallie M. Franklin; her sister, Gwyn McKay; her brother, W. E. "Eddie" Franklin, Jr.; her nephew, Joseph McKay, Jr. and wife, Kymberly, along with their children, Kyndell, Danyelle, Emmett, and Emma; and her nephew, W.E. “Little Ed” Franklin, III.

Nicki will be remembered for her kindness, her love of animals and nature, her passion for sports, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.

Services will be private.
