Nelda Lea Benton

Nelda ""Nel"" Benton of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away on May 13, 2013, after many years of struggling with the effects of a stroke. Nel was a former longtime resident of Long Beach, MS, until being displaced by Hurricane Katrina. She was a longtime member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Gulfport, MS.
Nel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Benton; her parents, James and Addie Cooke; her daughter, Carol Jean Duncan; her sister, Norma Jean Cooke; her brothers, George and Harry Cooke and son, Erwin Benton.
Nel is survived by her daughters, Robin Duncan Brawdy and Jamie Benton Weir; sons, Tommy Duncan and Jeff Benton; sisters, Nelynn 'Cookie' Cooke and Carol Lowery Bass; 18 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013, from 5pm-7pm at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 274 Beauvoir Road in Biloxi.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at 10am in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Biloxi National Cemetery.
