Nancy Waring Redmond

Nancy Waring Redmond was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, on November 23, 1939, to D.P. Waring, Sr. and Katherine Dornbusch Waring. She passed away peacefully at her home in D’Iberville, Mississippi, on August 23, 2026, at age 86, surrounded by her children.

The youngest of eight siblings, Nancy grew up with four brothers and three sisters, affectionately known as “the Waring Girls.” She graduated from Carr Central High School in Vicksburg in 1957, where she was a varsity cheerleader and played basketball for the Greenies. She later attended the University of Mississippi where she studied liberal arts and was one of the original 7 charter members of the AO Pi sorority (Nu Beta) and is officially documented in the original registry as it was formally installed in February 1958.

In 1959, Nancy married Jack Carter. Together, they raised four children: Candy Carter, Jack Carter, Jr., Wally Carter, and Julie Carter Adkins.

A devoted homemaker and mother, Nancy also worked as a substitute teacher and volunteered at a local hospital, generously serving both her family and community. She later pursued careers in travel and real estate.

In 1993, Nancy married Thomas “Tom” Redmond. Until his death on September 21, 2023, they shared 30 wonderful years filled with love, travel, good food, golf, and cheering for their favorite football teams. Together, they embraced life’s adventures and created countless cherished memories.

Nancy loved to read, play a competitive game of scrabble, enjoyed tennis and was an avid golfer, proudly earning an impressive three holes-in-one. Whenever good music played, she could be found on the dance floor, savoring the moment and bringing her lively spirit to everyone around her.

She never met a stranger. Loving, kind, funny, outgoing, and full of life, Nancy was known for calling people “darlin’”—a word that became part of her unmistakable personality.

Family was at the center of Nancy’s life. She gave herself fully to the people she loved and remained a constant source of support for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether celebrating joyful moments, helping through difficult ones, or simply listening, Nancy was always there. Her family knew they could count on her for a hug, a kind word, or honest advice.

Nancy adored her daughters-in-law, Paige and Melanie, whose place in her heart extended far beyond the title. She considered them her daughters and the relationships they shared were deeply meaningful and among the great joys of her life.

Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought Nancy tremendous pride and happiness. She treasured every generation, delighting in watching them grow, pursue their dreams, and build families of their own.

The way Nancy loved her family remains forever engraved in the hearts of those she cherished. Her traditions, kindness, laughter, and freely given love will live on through the generations.

Nancy lived a life rich in family, friendship, adventure, love, and memories. She will be remembered for her strength, humor, competitive spirit, love of reading and playing Scrabble, dancing, traveling, golfing, sharing of memories and her “darlin’”—but most of all, for the unconditional love she gave her family.

Nancy was one of a kind: deeply loved, fiercely independent, and unforgettable. Her family will carry her memory always and remain grateful for the years, lessons, laughter, and love she gave so freely.

Nancy is survived by her four children, Candy Carter, Jack Carter, Jr. (Melanie), Wally Carter (Paige), and Julie Carter Adkins; her grandchildren, Kristen Goldenburg (Brian), Jacqueline Carter, Rachel Lane (Jameson), Reagan Evans, Erika Juarez (Erik), Christopher Carter (Kristina), Jessica Carter, William Carter, Madison White, and Jamie Adkins; and her great-grandchildren, Aiden Juarez, Savanna Juarez, Rowan Goldenburg, Thomas Knox, Robert Knox, Benjamin Fox, Callahan Fox, and Collins Carter.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Lee Waring, whom Nancy deeply loved and adored as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, D.P. Waring, Sr. and Katherine Dornbusch Waring; her brothers, D.P. Waring, Jr., Robert Waring, Albert Waring, and Jimmy Waring; her sisters, Katherine “Sis” Silver, Elizabeth “Betty” Aden, and Mary Denton; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard “Bunny” Aden, Ida Waring, Bettie Jean Waring, Liz Waring, Nell Waring, Laura Waring, Bo Denton, Paul Hughes, Sr., and Jerry Silver.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved Muffin, who was far more than a trusty companion. Muffin was Nancy’s cherished little shadow and a constant source of comfort, joy, and unconditional love. Nancy adored her deeply and loved sharing photos and stories about her, proudly celebrating the special place Muffin held in her heart and life.

A celebration of Nancy's life will be determined at a later time.
