Obituary

Nellie Maxine Parker, age 81, of Wiggins, Mississippi, passed away on January 14, 2026, at her home.

Maxine was born in Alabama and was a longtime resident of Wiggins. She attended some college and devoted her life to her family as a homemaker. Her life was centered on faith, service, and love for others. She had a heart for missions and found joy in sewing, using her talents to bless those around her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Vera Mills and her father, Stova Stokley; and her granddaughter Tiffany Velez-Guerrero.

Maxine is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Waymon H. Parker, Sr., of Wiggins, MS; her children, Michele Barrett (Mark), Kay Parker, Waymon Parker, Jr. (Leah), Rachel Torries, Hope Tinsman (Daniel); her siblings, Shirley Thornton, Theresa McDaniel, Donna Creel, Ricky Bazelle, and Lane Bazelle.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cortney Velez-Guerrero, Christina Parker Morganflash, Lexie Parker, Frankie Torries, Hanna Hendry, and Daulton Hendry; and her great-grandchildren, Keira Sillimon, Christian Velez-Guerrero, Kady Velez-Guerrero, Kinslee Velez-Guerrero, Leilani Velez-Guerrero, Skyanne Morganflash, Nathan Morganflash Parker, Emma Lilly Torries, and Carter Hendry.

Maxine will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and faithful servant whose quiet strength and compassion touched many lives.

No memorial services are scheduled currently. A private inurnment will take place at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 8910 Carl Leggett Rd. Gulfport, MS.
