Myrtle Nelson

Myrtle McBride Nelson, better known as ""Mickey"", age 86, of Long Beach, went to her heavenly home on Friday, September 27, 2013.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. ""Hut"" Nelson, Sr; her parents, Roy and Fannie McBride; and two brothers, Ernest and Cecil McBride.
She is survived by two sons, W.H. ""Mac"" Nelson (Dawn) and Michael Nelson (Marsha); one daughter, Patty Nelson (Sharon); four grandchildren, Christian Nelson, Laura Holloway, Tiffany Choate, and Kellie Reyes; seven great grandchildren; her brother, Roy S. ""Sambo"" McBride (Helen); nieces and nephews, Becky, Sandra, Chuck, John, and Kathy; and Sharon's children, Tim and Teresa and grandsons, Anthony and Patrick. Her cousins, Mildred and Elaine were especially close to her heart. She will be missed by so many special friends and neighbors.
Mickey was a charter member and past president of VFW Post 3937 Auxiliary in Long Beach. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Long Beach. Father Louie Lohan was not only her priest but a great friend and loved one.
Her favorite motto was: ""Live for the joy of today and no promise for tomorrow.""
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at Noon at the RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 19130 Commission Rd, Long Beach with a visitation from 11:00 AM until the service. A private graveside service will be held at Gulf Pines Memorial Gardens.
