September 23, 1939 — September 10, 2013

Dr. Myron Jay ""Mick"" Horn was born in Denver, CO to Rose and Abe Horn on September 23, 1939, and passed into his eternal life, surrounded by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and friends on September 10, 2013.
Mick loved life to the fullest. His distinguished career with the US Air Force spanned 21 years before retiring as a Major. He was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He earned a Doctorate of Psychology and believed in the power of education.
He had a passion for martial arts and studied under some of the great masters, such as Col. Ed Parker, who helped to bring the Kenpo style of karate to the US. Mick's thirst for the sport was never quenched. He was brave and fearless, yet also had a little boy's spirit. He always believed in doing what was right.
While stationed in Biloxi, MS, he met Phyllis DuBose, the love of his life. He made her his bride on June 22, 1963 and they were fortunate enough to celebrate 50 years of marriage. They were blessed with 5 children and over 80 foster children.
He is survived by his wife and adoring children - Tiffany Horn, Tammy Rankin, Travis Horn(Michelle), Tonalea Carbonette, and Tara Owens (Jason). He cherished all 18 of his grandchildren - Ryne, Kyle, Layne, Camryn, Andrea, Katy, Aiden, Elyse, Griffin, Trinity, Abby, Rylee Jae, Alyson, Jordan, Javier, Diego, Daeneirys, and Delaney. He is also survived by three sisters from Denver, CO - Diana McNabney, Wendy Sosby, and Nannette Murphy.
He battled Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) for 4 ½ years. He and his family received much love and support from his church family at Handsboro United Methodist Church. The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at KAFB Hospital, Ocean Springs Hospital, Ocshner's Hospital, and Southern Care Hospice for his care.
